If you have no idea about VHDL then this book will take you up to a starting point. If you have had some contact with VHDL, such as doing a free on-line tutorial, you will be very disappointed. The book contains hardly any practical advice for the novice in terms of how to structure particular tasks. It merely tells you what standard constructs exist rather than how you can solve particular problems. The CDROM is designed for Win 3.1, Win95 and Win NT. I tried it on Win98SE and the simulator just locked up on the examples. Maybe it is my machine setup, but there is no way to debug it. Overall disappointing.
