Book without an ending?
|
I picked this up from the library with the thought: "well it could hardly be worse than The Da Vinci Code" - at least Dan Brown included an ending. I got the feeling reading this that the author thought: Ok - now I've created this all powerful secret society that run the CIA, how do I get my heroes out of it?...erm... no idea...I'll just finish here.
In fairness, it had less of the crass generalisations about Britain and the British than Dan Brown - tea drinking, pea soupers... weird mixes of regional accents etc. but as other reviewers stated the plot seemed very unsatisfactory and left a lot unexplained at the end. The plot was unbalanced as well in my opinion. it started out as a regular thriller, with a guy on the run from his own organisation, it was only about 2/3 of the way through that we were presented with a huge glob of information all at once about The Magdalene Society (and yes, we had crop circles, UFOs the lot really).

This fades quickly in the memory.
This must have been a reasonable read, as I don't remember reacting negatively at the time. That said, I dont really remember the book, which must say something in and of itself.
There are a few inaccuracies in the book, but in general, they do not grate, and there is plenty of energy to carry the reader from incident to incident.
Don't rush out to buy this one, but if you feel like some reading-candy, this will keep your eyes occupied for a while.

Didn't enjoy this book at all!! I was half way through the book and it was going nowhere however , it did get pretty gripping with about three lines to go!!!

Not a good book at all. I'm not someone that is a big book worm and I do take an age to get through a book, but this sai I do enjoy a good read. For this type of book I would advise some one like James Rollins... Much better (I'd even put some of his books above Dan Brown!). As for this one, the plot was rubbish and the characters undeveloped. and the only positive this left me with was the hope that I could become an author one day.

Sub-standard Da Vinci code

Another conspiration theory, so far fetched that it becomes ridiculous. With a very thin plot (hero travels across Europe, hunted by the CIA and destroys a 2000 year old secret society), and a poor editorial job (French translation is almost always incorrect), this book made for a dreadful read...
