This book has a really unusual premise, which you have to buy into before you embark on it. It is a wonderful love story, funny, quirky, beautifully written, with some interesting references to music, art and literature. Definitely a cracking read. I only gave it 4 stars because i had read so much hype about it that it was almost certain to not be as good as I wanted it to be. But i loved it. Read it before you read the reviews, and you won't be disappointed.

One of the most moving books so far this century

When i first read the back of this book it struck me as a bizarre form of science fiction, disguised as a romance -- not necessarily my cup of tea. The idea of time travel, in fact, almost put me off entirely. Luckily, it didn't, and I was more than pleasantly surprised to discover that it was a fantasy story based in a very real world and, despite the seemingly unbelievable idea behind it, it was entirely believable.
It perhaps takes two reads to truly understand the power of this book -- the first time round you can become lost and confused as to whereabouts you are in time, what with all the hoping back and forth between the past, present and future, so for me it was on the second reading that I really began to appreciate the power of this story -- but it still had enough of an effect on me first time round to necessitate a second reading.
All in all, a fanastic, moving and readable book. If there's one book about which you should believe the hype, then this is it.

A wonderful and moving story that will have you hooked. Simply one of the best books I have ever read, it will capture your heart and have you feeling like you know each of the characters like your own friends and family. This book is a must!

This book was okay. I'm not into science fiction at all and this was science fiction.I could not suspend belief enough to really take it seriously.It was okay but certainly not a five star book.

I had read so many reviews of this book, that I never really fancied it at all. However, I decided to give it a go, and I'm so glad that I did. I loved it!! I really did. It's just so lovely, so moving, it's so many things. I know it's far-fetched, but then, it isn't supposed to be factual is it? Just take it for what it is, a beautiful piece of work, that really made me cry, and affected me a lot. I love Henry and Clare. I really do. I feel as though I know them so well, and that is the mark of a good book, I think, when you become personally involved with the characters. It's a strange concept, time travel, but it works so well in this book. I'm writing this review, and welling up thinking about the book!! It's just lovely, one to treasure.
