Paradise Regained

I first discovered these stories whilst in the library besides Keats House in Keats Grove in London (small but perfectly formed). Of all the books I read as a child this series of stories stayed with me and images pop up at the oddest times (e.g oil lakes and matches during the first gulf war) It surprised me to read the total (manic?) enthusiasm for tales pored out in these reviews, I thought I was the only one who still retained it! Thank you Red Fox, one for me and one for my God daughter.

Simply Fantastic

I first discovered Uncle in my primary school library and it didn't take long for me to join the band of devoted fans. The books are funny, readable and full of human insights. How many times since have I quoted Wisdom Sage ('bad advice is always expensive'), or visited somewhere rather like owl springs. Simply fantastic.

Literary SuperMarioworld

I agree with all the reviews here. To me, this series is the literary equivalent of Nintendo's Super Marioworld game - as you progress through the books there are endless delightful surprises. As in the best video games, you do not want it to stop. Uncle should be up there with Tintin, Asterix and Harry Potter as a children's icon that all can enjoy. And all the books should be in print.

A glorious series - a bit of everything!

We got these books due to a cousin being related to the author! I have read them yearly ever since in my parent's house but wanted my own copies. My only disappointment is that they are only in paperback! currency has been preserved in the book, illustrations are also still the same. This has a bit of everything in it - the Goodies and thre Baddies, the witches, wizards, spooks, magic, sweets galore, underground surprises, the fun fair element, exploration, the very normal things like Will Shudder the librarian at Homeward - Uncle's castle, who learns copperplate writing, the low life and the upperclass. Each time I reread them I find another bit that I had forgotten and revel in enjoying it anew. Republish the others and then do them in hardback too so that I can share them with my children when they grow up! My father is 60 and he still enjoys them too.
