great set up to the potential endings
|
readable solid NJO book
sets up the last parts of the series well - but actually annoying in that the promised revelations still dont quite appear. Tahiri is a central figure and has an interesting part to play and this book is FULL of the Vong. there are massive swathes of the pages divoted to vong chapters about Nen Yim and Nom Anor. Zonama Sekot is threatened and its all very readable - it just doesnt shine out as one of the great books of the series.
it is atmospheric and written well - easy read
bring on the last book - i wanna know what happens!!
8/10

Lacking a little something

The Final Prophecy is the penultimate New Jedi Order novel which gears the reader up for a final, dramatic conclusion. Luke, Mara and their team of explorers are considered missing in the Unknown Regions, whilst the fledgling Galactic Alliance attempts to retake the crucial Bilbringi system in their struggle for their galaxy. The events here are interesting but not exactly gripping. It felt too much like the penultimate battle it was meant to be. It was difficult to watch Wedge Antilles become trapped by the Vong knowing how many other players they have slaughtered. Corran Horn and Tahiri penetrate the Yuuzhan Vong stronghold and take three curious, supposedly peacemaking Vong to the world of Zonama Sekot. One, shaper Nen Yim, makes a shocking discovery about Sekot, but is bumped off before she can reveal it, leaving the reader in great suspense. It was a nice touch to see a Yuuzhan Vong and a human get along for once, although this is rather nastily brought to an unhappy end where Nom Anor once again misbehaves and gets away with it! Greg Keyes is a great writer and he does a good job here. All in all, fun but sometimes difficult (the morbid kind) reading!

Star wars the final prophecy: In the beginning there was light. Then came man. Then Luke Skywalker. Then The birth of a nation. Light spread amist the galaxy and soon it was lit. Star wars was born. This book is smashing. I bought it from downstairs, Ace Comics Colchester when i was with my uncle Joe 'Data man' Drake. It is awesome. I recommend. Thank You. May the Force be with you.

not bad

Star Wars: The Final Prophecy is more a building block than a complete story. The story line is quite slow a laborious except in certain bits where it suddenly gets good, those bits were all that kept me going really. However it was quite informative and a lot of things that the previous books have kept going are ended (not going to say more or i would spoil it) Once you have read it, all the stuff starts to make sense and it all promises for a brilliant final novel- Both sides are getting geared up for a major battle and the jedi are preparing as well. One of my favorite characters Wedge Antillies gets in some trouble trying to retake a system and Jaina and her squadron get caught in a trap! Final Prophecy is not bad and should be read- but only if you have read the rest of the jno series.

The Pace picks up.....

It is really very hard to review this book as it stands as it is really just a set of foundations for the Unifying Force. Lets just say some of the major characters are flung across the universe, a couple of battles happen, something upsets the Galactic Republic. We are given more (a lot more) insights into the Vong, Nom Anor changes from being a sore (why was he still alive type sore) into something very different, and then changes again. (but thats Nom Anor for you)Too say any more would risk spoiling things for you. This is a great scene setting novel. As I have said before if you haven't read any of the NJO books then this is DEFINATLY NOT the place to start. Go and buy Vector Prime, set aside enough cash to buy the rest of the series, arrange for a close relative to die (work/school excuse) and strap yourself in for a ride that can only be compared to the original Starwars movie. If you have already read the previous books then there is no point me telling you to buy this one as I will assume thats not an issue.
