Excellent Book

This book is excellent! Incorporates XP so is now bang up to date. My college lecturer recommended it to me and I am not disappointed. Covers great depth but is easy to read and follow. The practice exams on the cd are excellent too! I am sure that I will pass first time with the combination of a college course and this book. Buy it!!

This is an excellent book for all computer builder/upgraders
Most reference books are designed to be dipped into but this one can be read from cover to cover. With 1263 pages it's a bit heavy for bedtime reading but it has to be the most interesting book I have read for ages. It is designed to give you the basics in the A+ Certification but you don't have to be interested in taking this exam to get the most out of this book. If you want a all round book to teach you how to trouble shoot, build your own computer or even just to get some knowledge on how computers work then this book will be just for you.

Good book

An easy to read book, but I found the author tended to ramble on excessively about concepts rather than exam-specific information. Upon taking practice tests, the book is inadequate for the OS exam, especially on troubleshooting. Quite a few syllabus topics aren't even mentioned. The CD-ROM included is great for practice tests, but beware that it is also written by the author and gives you the impression everything has been covered. Overall, a great start to A+ study, but it's not as "all-in-one" as I'd hoped.

This book is a god send...
Because of a career change I have spent a lot of time reading books and trying to make sense of it. This book is a god send, not only is it easy to understand, it has suttle humor in it to lighten the topic. Not only is the book excellent but the CD test questions were 'spot-on'. I always got around 800 points on the sample test and I god 780 on the real test. This is an excellent read (and coming from someone who doesn't like reading books that is really saying something). If I were you - i'd buy this book !
