Covers all the bases

I used this book to do the INTRO and ICND exams as I didn't feel confident enough to do the single option. I passed the Intro easily, and didn't do quite as well on the second exam (but still passed), this book and it's structure is good and easy to use, however it does seem more suited to the one exam option.
The included Sims on the CD are really useful.

Excellent Guide but........

This guide really is one of the better ones I have used, but it is let down by it's partner, Boson SOftware. I had to buy 2 copies of this book because the first one came with a damaged CD. The Boson software did install but the serial number provided was incorrect. I diidn't worry about it too much as I knew Amazon would be replacing it anyway. When the second copy arrived the serial number was again incorrect. It took ages to sort out with Boson and I lost valuable time trying to get it sorted. I find this unacceptable. Apart from that the book itself, as a guide, is very good.

Aside from quite a few typos, I can't really fault this book. I drifted away from it in the few weeks before doing the exam, only to end up going back because secondary study material just didn't have the detail or clarity of this book. What really helps though, is the accompanying cd with the Boson NetSim - a real must if you want to get through the CCNA - and the Boson questions were not bad either - I found them good enough to get me through the exam. It did give me full coverage - and I passed the exam on the first sitting.

Good book - probably too soft on the questions...

Good book. I studied with this book to get the basics but always had the internet and 2 routers close by! The reason I got this one is because the Cisco Press book seemed too complicated and factual rather than letting you learn and implement. Everything on the exam was covered in enough detail, [passed this morning with 930!], but would say that the mock exams were far too easy, lulling you into a false sense of security - get some brain dumps down to see the difficulty level. I would recommend that you use this book along with some hands-on. Good luck... CCNP here I come...

Could not fault this book. Helped me pass my exam from start to finish in 3 months (with about a 100 hours of study). Written in a easy going way, which did not lose my interest, very good cd as well.
