Coming up with projects suitable for an 'evil genius' is no small task, but this book doesn't disappoint. It does warm up a little gradually though. I am afraid that I could not find a role for an egg-timer or a doorbell within any current schemes. However, the ideas really start to come into their own about halfway through. I suspect that my recently completed death-ray could annihilate whole continents, if I could only source a powerful enough rocket to send it into orbit. Some of the slightly smaller-scale projects are also highly worthwhile. Now that my underground base (located beneath a private island off the coast of Guatemala) has been fitted with a retro-style electric chair, my hard hat and boiler suit clad henchmen are less inclined to play poker when they are supposed to be on duty.

I was hoping to give myself a good introduction to electronics with this book. Because some of the parts aren't available in the UK, I sent off for the kit of parts from the States. then the projects did work better, but still some needed modification to work, and others I simply gave up with. One project suggested a supply of 9v DC, but only worked when I lowered the supply voltage to 6v DC. I would have liked more of the projects to have worked first time, or at least to have been warned that these were just suggestions, and would need further work on them before they worked.
