A comprehensive view of life on the "teams"
|
This book is very informative and sensible. As a British reader I am always dubious about American books on military affairs which tend to be "gung ho." Dennis Chalker appears a "quiet professional" in his treatment of all subjects and his description of his unit's various operations and training. He describes in detail his early life in the Navy, his attempts to join the SEALs and his life within the unit once in. Throughout he provides detail, humour and realism of all aspects of military life. He treats all subjects with thought and respect and comes across as a competent man who you would want around if things got exciting. The book left me with the impression that he has led an exciting and varied career hell bent on the persuit of excellence and professionalism. Overall a good entertaining read if you are interested in this subject.
