What another superb book from darren shan i would definately reccommend this book to anyone, i purchased this book purely on reputation and found myself yet again immersed in another shan book,it just goes from one twist to the next and you never know what's around the corner, simply pure brilliance.
Another great book by Shan
Not much needs to be said. As usual, Shan delivers a fast-paced 1st person tale that delves into the supernatural. Capac is a great lead character and meets a load of other interesting guys and gals along the way. Or does he? That's the hook. The story is full of mystery - people popping up here, vanishing there - and keeps you reading. The chapters are fairly long, so if you are used to his 6-10 page chapters from the Saga and the Demonata, be prepared for 20-30 pages per chapter in this. All in all, though, a great book to set up the trilogy.
Bring out the next one!
After having read all his previous books and loving them, I was excited when I heard about a remake of his City trilogy being made and hopefully being completed this time. I was not disappointed.

The plot is easy to follow, the turns of the story making the whole scene clearer for the reader. Although I felt the ending was slightly disappointing, the rest of the story had me hooked and I can't wait for the next book to appear next year.

This book will appeal to many different kinds of people, whether you are familiar with his previous works or not. Definately worth the money :)
Shan adult novel reappears
Darren Shan's first adult book that was originally released back in 1999 is repackaged for a new generation. But what makes this tale so intriguing is the way that it takes no prisoners, it's a book that you'll love or hate and as such will split the readership down the middle. On the whole a different tale that tries to keep clear (and mostly succeeds,) or the pre-established clichéd ridden stories that have been regurgitated throughout time and begun to mire the mainstream genre. Whilst not to my own personal taste I can recognise the talent behind the pen and admire the way that he wraps the ingredients together creating a rather interesting hybrid that will leave many wondering how the hell he did it. I will endeavour to read future books in the series just to see where its all going.
A wonderful read
If you ever want a book to read, this is definitely a good one. It moevs along quickly, creating many questions along the way. More and more come into the story, until they are finally revealed in the last chapter, with an (or so I think) unpredictable plot twist.
What's interesting about this story is that we're unsure what genre it is. Is it horror, sci-fi, mystory, or what? Whatever you place it as though, it is among the greatest in these categories.
