Customer Reviews:
A bit busy
This is the second Sean Dillon book i've read and I don't remember the other one being as busy as this one. There seems to be a lot going on and the easy way they seem to be able to kill all the bad guys without losses is unbelievable.
I was going to stop reading it early on as it just moved from one story to another and as I didn't know the charachters it got slightly confusing. It did get easier to read but would only recommend this book to hardened Sean Dillon fans.
Written by Robots?
I believe I have never ever read any book which was anywhere close to this one in its utter lack of suspense, story-line, plausibility, intelligence, humor ... etc.
Whoever wrote this book has either totally lost it, or ... this was written by a bunch of decommissioned robots.

Sadly, the system does not allow this, but in reality I did not even grant Mr Higgins ONE star!

What a HUGE disappointment. Don't waste your time with this!
This is a waste of time & money. I bought it to take on holiday but count myself lucky I forgot it! I read it on my return and only finished it as I hate giving up on any book. The plot was the thinnest ever, wrapped up by the presence of several stereotype characters none of which had the depth I expected from such an established author. It had the most silly schoolboy ending I've EVER read and I will NEVER trust any of his books again. His earlier works (I've read most) were exiting & tense this was just tedious. Enough said!
Impulse buy
I've heard of Jack Higgins numerous times, but never actualy read any of his books. Saw this sitting in a book shop and simply bought it on an impulse as something to read to pass time. Thankfully I had no particular preconceived ideas on how good it was going to be - I say thankfully, as had I thought it was going to be any good, I would have been so very disappointed!

The entire book is a perfect example of the worst kind of formulaic writing. The characters are so lacking depth they are 2 dimensional at best. The book lacks any kind of descriptive writing, the "action" when it occurs is clumsy and simply unrealistic. In fact, the whole thing is just awful. The story jumps around between a myriad of "characters" to create an illusion of fast paced action, but simply becomes irritating instead.

Has the feel of a book that was produced simply to meet the demands of a contract whereby the author had to produce a certain number of books for the publisher.

If it was possible to give it zero stars I would.
Sorry Jack - need to raise your game A LOT
I bought this book in a bored moment while staying overnight in a Travelodge with a WH Smiths attached. Boy what a mistake. One dimensional characterisations, predictable plot, unbelievable characters (yes of course the UK Govt uses East End thugs and IRA hit men as field operatives). Avoid.
