Customer Reviews:
Good but needed editing
I really enjoy this series and this book was a pleasure. The 1st and last thirds are really excellent. But we didn't need the long political statements in the middle - I kept thinking get back to the plot. The breakdown of Consuila Imanez is totally irrelevant to the story. Speed read these bits. Nevertheless a cracking good read.
pretty good
This is the 3rd installment of the Javier Falcon novels, the previous 2 being cracking, at times demanding books. In this story Wilson explores a terrorist attack in Spain investigated by Inspector Flacon. As the previous reviewer has pointed out in this book Falcon has appeared to come to terms with his 'demons' and consequently the book is much lighter reading.

As always wilson develops the characters and the plot of the book in an excellent manner. my only criticism of the book was that, at times, theres just a little too much going on (including perhaps a few too many characters. I found myself at times having to think back to discover who this person was). I found this distracting and it ultimately spoilt what could have been a very good book (hence 3 instead of 4 *).

This is a good book but not as good as the previous 2 Falcon books, in my opinion. However, the ending of the book leaves you wanting to know more and I believe that Wilson plans a 4th and final Falcon novel. Wilson remains a great thriller writer
The evolution of Jefe Falcon
This is the 2nd of the Inspector Falcon books that I have read and after the wallowing in psychological misery of The Blind Man of Seville I enjoyed this much more. Here Falcon has come to terms with his past and his family and can now concentrate on doing his job - which he does very well. His on-going descriptions of Seville and food also make a tasty addition to the flavour.
Wilson just gets better
Robert Wilson just gets better and better with each book. Whether or not you have read him before, (if not, where have you been?) you need to read this one.Tautly plotted, with characters who have life far beyond the immediate storyline, there is a real depth to this which lifts it beyond the ordinary, everyday thriller. His writing is intelligent and literary, his plot richly layered. The storyline is contemporary and highly relevant to us all. Even the setting , clearly well known to the writer, marks this out as different.
