compulsive

It says 'compulsively readable' on the cover, from a review in the Guardian, and that is exactly what it is. It is weird, but wonderfully weird, and beautiful and moving when you least expect it. Unlike most other fiction out there, which is what makes it so special.

Birdwatchers go weird
|
This book is weird and strangely disturbing insight into the world of twitching (chasing rare birds). The main character is nameless and genderless but you assume its male, but that may not be correct.
Overall I didn't enjoy it that much. Just too weird.

Gripping read

Pelican Blood -- I won't give away the significance of the title -- features premeditated murder, friendship and an obsessive hobby taken to extremes worthy of John Fowles ("The Collector"). Read it.

Absolutely compelling!

Vivid, raw and totally gripping. A really clever and intelligent plot - which pulls you in so deeply you just can't escape. This book was recommended to me by a friend, and I have to say it was one of the best books I've read in a very long time.

A horrible book
|
|
This book has to be the worst I've read. The plot has a lot of potential, but is let down but a scantily developed storyline infused with foul language, presumably to try to make it seem like literature rather than simply a good read. It does not rate 1 star, but you cannot award less, my advice is don't waste your money.
