Disappointing
|
Having read quite a few books on the subject and the subsequent reviews on this book by other Amazon readers, I was really looking forward to getting my teeth into this book. However, I was very disappointed. Basically, if you have never used a compass before, you won't get past first base!! Lillian Too talks alot in the first 20 pages of how crucial it is to get accurate compass readings of your home/room orientations etc, and how it can have a detrimental affect not getting the correct readings. However, nowhere does she actually explain concisely how you read the compass for the purposes of Feng Shui, and how you interpret your readings. Her instructions with regards to this point are very scanty and jumbled in terms of how they are written about in the book and she left me totally confused. I have been interested in FS for about 5 years and regard myself as quite familiar with the principles, but her instructions (for obtaining the various directions within the home) totally fathomed me. When you do finally mangage to work out the various directions (or at least to the point where you "think" it must be correct), the rest of the book is very interesting, and the cures easy to implement. However, you best hope you get the directions sussed otherwise it makes the rest of the book totally worthless.

Practical and easy to apply a must for beginners with low £

I have found this book really practical and easy to apply. You do not have to be a big roller to implement these tips and a marked improvement and visible difference can be noticed in a very short period of time, just by reorganisation of your living space. I Thoroughly recommend this book.

The practical benefits of Feng Shui - without the history.

I get great enjoyment from watching the TV, but to do so I don't have to have an in depth understanding of how the TV works, it's history or development over the years. I turn it on - it entertains. In much the same way Lillian Too's Smart Feng Shui for the Home is entertaining, providing many hints, suggestions and easy to follow examples of how Feng Shui can be applied in your home. In doing so it does not, however, suffocate the reader with in-depth explanations of the techniques, but leaves the reader with an interesting insight. A great book to introduce almost everyone to Feng Shui. The only reason I dropped the fifth star is because it lacks the colour images that can sometimes help illustrate the author's ideas.
