A frank and hilarious insight into the world of wrestling

As an avid wrestling fan I was thrilled to hear that my all time favourite wrestler was to release his autobiography. Although I wasn't entirely sure how it would read and whether a man who's taken so many blows to the head could write coherently, I still ordered it as soon as it came out. I was not disappointed. What I read was a startling novel which was as hilarious as it was informative. You get to find out the truth behind some of wrestlings biggest names as well as learn just how difficult it is to make it in such a competitive business. From his journey's across the US independant scene, to Japan and the King of the Deathmatch tournament, to his trials and problems in WCW, to the great times he had in ECW right up until his run in the WWF (now the WWE), this book details all the ins and outs of the business. It certainly adds a more human side to professional wrestlers. It even goes into his feelings about the notorious 1997 Montreal incident involving Bret Hart and Vince McMahon. It answers so many questions that are commonly asked about the business in a candid and honest way. Probably the best part of the whole book is the moving piece Foley wrote about Owen Hart, one of wrestlings most surprising and saddening tragedies in the last few years. What he wrote about Owen nearly had me in tears, something I was definately not expecting from a autobiography of one of wrestling's greatest risk takers. He recalls the fun he used to have with one of the WWF's most notorious pranksters and the incredible loss that everybody suffered in the wake of his death. This book is candid, moving and hilariously funny all at the same time. Mick Foley's journey of a career makes for incredible reading and is an absolute must for all fans of wrestling that you can keep going back to again and again. Thoroughly reccommended.

A man of many talents
|
This is by far the greatest wrestling biography. It is both honest and enjoyable. At the start I wasn't to sure because I read The Rocks autobiography and it wasn't any good at all, but this was diffrent. It was the story of Mick Foley by Mick Foley, not a ghost writer. If your a fan of Wrestling, Mick Foley or you like a funny book to read, this is it!

Many a person's bible

I've read this book a few times now and it's still highly entertaining, (as well as a good referance for anyone who wants to check up on anything they might want to know about the wrestling buisness in general). The stories from Mick's youth are worthy of anyone's attention, and are sure to make you laugh, a great read all round really. The last *bonus* chapter in the paperback version doesn't seem to fit though, it should have been saved for the next book. Also, many people have told me that they never read books because they get bored real quick, they've read this and not been able to put it down. surely that's a good thing! I also wish more non-wrestling fans would read this, they would probably learn something.

Have a nice day... reading this book I did!

I must admit when I bought this book I was a little apprehensive but as soon as I managed to get through the first few pages all that went away. On eof the main things that attracted me to this book was that it was written by the man himself, Mick Foley. I think the reason why this book is such an excellent read is because he manages to add his own humour and personal touch to the stories in his life that he looks back on so fondly, and others maybe not so fondly. I would have to say that 'Have A Nice Day' is one of the best books that I have ever read, and it really shows that Mick Foley is equally at home inside a steel cage as to what he is, with a note book and pen in his hand. The book covers so many aspects of his life and not all of them are directly connected to his wrestling career, and I must admit to being a big wrestling fan, but i'm sure other readers who are not big fans of this type of sports entertainment would also be pleasently surprised by what this book has to offer. One aspect which i'm sure all wrestling fans will enjoy about this book as it gives a very candid behind the scenes look at the industry, that is both humerous and very enlightening. Anyone who is reading these reviews now and is tempted to buy this book, I would definately recommend it, you won't be disappointed.
