A well written, and well translated I guess, and warm hearted tale about an old man coming to terms with the death of his wife. This has a beautiful, almost dreamy in places, quality to it. As the central character embarks on a "project" to get a painting of his wife, he meets all sorts of people he would have never normally met while his wife was alive. The wisdom of age is wonderfully portrayed as he analyses these different characters in his mind. He also, naturally, ends up contemplating his life, his marriage, and his family. A thought provoking, gentle, read.
