What a fantastic, classic collection of books. I would highly recommend buying these for (grand)daughter/son. Each story is written in such an individual way. I read these books a few years ago, but I still love them, and would say that they are suitable for anyone aged between 8 and 13. The Phantom Tollbooth- Starts off a little slow, but once you become involved in the plot, the pace livens up a step. It is about the adventures of a young boy, named Milo.Who is permanently bored however everything changes for him, when he discovers a mysterious phantom tollbooth (the kind you pay your fare with when going over a bridge),and is transported into a new and mysterious world. If its excitement you're looking for then this is not the book for you, but if you're looking for a jolly good read and a little self-improvement perhaps. Buy and read this book and like Milo you'll never be bored again. This book is perhaps suited best to he younger reader (7-11). Homecoming- An exciting and rivetting book that will have you glued to your chair. Follow the four children on their adventures across America trying to find their ancient relative an elderly aunt living 200 miles away. Empathise with them, and laugh with them as you follow them from your comfy spot, next to the fire, on their journey. Recommended to an older reader. When Hitler stole pink rabbit- Written post war this book will have you laughing your socks off at times, and crying aswell. I recently read this to my younger cousin who is now 9yrs, and she loved it, although she is not particularly interested in reading herself she enjoyed me reading it to her and this reall hit the spot! Suited to an older reader and ideal for reading aloud.
