Absolutely addictive and funny poetry

As I find myself saying "Don't" to my two children, I launch into the poem of the title page. This book has allowed us to laugh at ourselves as parents and echo what children are all about. I especially love "Nursery" about the boy who was naughty at school by singing Baa Baa Moo Moo. My kids and I enjoy it every time!

Very funny poetry and a pleasure to share with your children

This book has proved a big hit with my boys (aged 6 and 4). They read it constantly and have committed much of it to memory. Indeed poetry recitation has become a feature of all family gatherings now thanks to this book! Michael Rosen writes in a humorous and down-to-earth way which appeals to readers of all ages. The poems capture every day events and children's concerns and preoccupations (even dreams) in a simple and direct way. Each poem paints a picture in the child's imagination which makes the words jump alive from the page. The illustrations are simple and engaging cartoon characters with very expressive faces and compliment the poetry perfectly. The book is a robust and light book which is easy to take on journeys. A joy to own.
