I saw the name of this book on a internet site 3-4 months ago and decided to buy it. I was disappointed with it. Because I thought that most of the book was about grammar (like the book "Practical English Usage" ) This book mainly focuses on correctly using individual words .
It has detailed explanations of 2000 usage points. These points are presented alphabetically.
There are five types of entry in this book : 1.entries for individual words 2. Entries for easily confused words 3. Entries dealing with groups of words 4. Topic entries, such as apologizing, letter writing, telephoning, thanking someone 5. Grammar entries, such as adjectives, the future, relative clauses, prepositions
I have a wordpower dictionary and I can find almost everything in this book in my dictionary except groups of words and some grammar points and of course so many examples.
There are thousands of examples and explains about words in this book. So it can be very useful for learners of English who have difficulty in finding true and appropriate words, while building sentences.
