This book is intended for use with Year 2 children (6-7 year olds) and would consolidate mental maths skills that they are learning as part of the Numeracy Strategy, for example, ordering numbers, odd and even numbers, finding the difference etc. This book could be used orally with children or they could record their answers in the book. The help boxes clearly show the children which mental strategy they should be using. There are six check-up tests to see how things are progressing.

The series of pupil books is for children from Year 1 to 6 and there are accompanying teacher's guides that help with the different methods of teaching mental maths. --Amanda York
